CUSTOMER SERVICE THANK YOU.

I have worked in retail a long time, so now one thing I appreciate is genuine, good, customer service. Today I got amazing customer service!

This is how happy I look after great customer service! Scrunchy nose is a sign of real happiness with me.

Over the last two weeks my poor overlocker had just sat there, wanting to be fixed. I attempted to take out the old needle on several occasions; I even got Justin to try. Okay yes I know if I could find the tool kit and the instructions, life would be easier.

I decided to take it to Sewco at Mt Gravatt, as my sewing and mending pile was growing. I was more than willing to pay to have it cleaned and for the new needle to be inserted. However, Janette (who served me) not only cleaned and replaced the needles, she did it for free AND she was patient enough to show/teach me how to do it.

They hold a half hour class for $35, on the how to basics with your overlocker, I am definitely asking for this as a birthday present!

Again, I cannot comment enough on the great service, she even recommended other fabric places I could go in my quest of finding fabric with maps on it.

Their business card, much recommended

VINTAGE TABLECLOTH SKIRT

I finally fixed my sewing machine. Well, I think I have, bar for a slight issue with tension all is good. Oh, and the fact that after pulling it apart and cleaning it, I have one screw left over. Hmm not sure about that left over screw. Shall I just pretend it does not exist?  Or pull the machine apart once again?

To take the machine for a good test run I made this skirt out of an old tablecloth. I am not one to normally cut up a beautiful vintage tablecloth; however, this had a lot of stains and holes in it. So I did some creative cutting and vola... I have a new skirt.

On a side note, how hard is it to take “selfies” and not feel like a complete idiot. Any advice?

Plus I could have called this post, “Being photo bombed by a naked 14 month old Boy”.

Not looking at the camera does not help in making you feel like less of a poser.

How pretty is the fabric?

Hey Mum, why is the camera on a tripod? And Why are you not taking photos of me?

Hi, here I am presenting my butt to the world.

Shall I run at the camera? That will get your attention back on me.

Fine, how about a sneaky bum shot?

There were so many more photo bombs by Jarvis, but front on. So, there we have my new skirt and my naked son!

SEWING MACHINE DISOBEDIENCE

No! I was most of the way through several things, dress re-makes, vintage cardigan re-style; extra bibs for Jarvis; and boxer shorts for Jarvis, when the needle snapped in half.

I thought I had cleaned it out well enough, but no matter how many times I clean, re-thread and generally poke at it, under the vague assumption I know what I am doing, the machine just chews up fabric.

I think it needs a professional, but I cannot find anywhere in Brisbane to look at it straight away, so this means it won't be back before we go away on Sunday. (insert the language of a trucker with the tantrum of a two year old) Even a whole packet of Fantales did not help.
