It is not that the words are a difficult thing
to say. I have no problem admitting I am in another person’s debt. I am not at
all powerful; I need the help of others to survive. The reality is that the
human race is interdependent. I cannot live life alone. I can admit I am
constantly relying on other for all kinds of resources, both physical and
emotional. When I say thank you I am acknowledging that I have received
something from another human being. But is this enough? Do the words count any more?
Jarvis loves
going to the letterbox. It is a daily joy of his, to hear the Postie’s bike,
and to run out and check if we have mail. Today, not only did we get mail, but
we got a parcel. A parcel for Jarvis.
My Aunt sent Jarvis a beautiful hand knitted jumper. This is not the first. Last winter between my Aunt and my Mother; the Grannies knitted an amazing stash for him. I happened to mention not so long ago that he had outgrown all of these, without expecting anything.
What a gorgeous surprise when we received this beautiful hand knitted gift today.
Not that my Aunt reads this blog, but I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for your thoughtful gift that is so filled with love.
So lovely!
ReplyDeleteEverything about it is lovely. The gesture, the knitting, the love, receiving a parcel. All of it is just so nice.
DeleteThat is beautiful! Such a nice gift...Jarvis is a lucky boy!
ReplyDeleteJarvis is indeed lucky. In fact he has made his sister a little jealous, she loves the jumper as much as me and jokingly asked if she could stretch it to fit her.
DeleteIt is such a delight to dress little ones in things that have been specially made for them, by someone who also loves them. Love that wool!

A lot of Jarvis's wardrobe is handmade. But handmade by someone other than me makes it even more special. The wool is gorgeous and soft. We all want a jumper to match!
DeleteOh so lovely. I love knitted and crocheted woolies. I'm very fortunate to have several friends who are talented and we have been gifted incredible pieces over time.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could knit! I can just manage a straight line. SO scarves and beanies are it for me. I want to practice and learn how to knit jumpers, everyone in this house loves hand knitted jumpers and cardigans. It is such a beautiful thing to be gifted and hand knitted item.
Deletethat's fabulous! there is nothing in this world like a hand knit! x
ReplyDeleteI know! I love them! We all love them. We are all very jealous of Jarvis's new jumper. We are all looking at it with such envy, it is so beautiful!
DeleteWhat a sweet sweet post as I know you have loved seeing the woollies I've made for my grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteYour aunt will know in your voice how much this means to you all, a hand written thank you letter with a Jarvis 'drawing' and/or a photo of him wearing his cosy new jumper will make her day too.
xxxx
I adore you hand knitting! I am thrilled to get a jumper for Jarvis. So yes thinking a photo of him in it with a hand written thank you may just be the answer.
DeleteMy son loves mail too (whether it's for him or not doesn't matter- Lol). I love what your aunt made for Jarvis. It was very sweet, kind, and thoughtful of her. & I'm with Sue, maybe just a sweet thank you letter on a pretty card or stationary will probably light up her day, maybe even a photo print of Jarvis wearing it <3
ReplyDeleteJarvis loves the letter box. I think he gets it from me. Don't we all love old fashioned mail?
