This was taken on Tamika's Iphone so the quality is not as good
At first I was not going to share these images, mostly for the criticism I received when I shared Jarvis’s last big injury. Then I thought stuff it, this is my blog, and the reason I started it was a record of my family. Part of that is my dare devil son. Yes he is adventurous and with that comes the falls. This time it is another major one. This image is after the blood has been washed off.
Besides
being a record of Jarvis’s injury, it shows just how much love my two children
have for each other. The day was meant to be about helping Tamika move into her
new apartment. Instead Tamika dropped everything to be with her brother.
Jarvis has
not only split open his top lip, he has cracked? Broken his two top teeth. The
bad news is that he has to have surgery on Thursday. They will put him under
and the surgery should take two to three hours. They will remove the nerves and
cap the teeth.
They are
waiting until Thursday to see if his spilt lip can heal a bit and (fingers
crossed) his teeth do not fall out.
I was a mess
yesterday, so much blood, combined with a broken tooth protruding from my son’s
lip. Tamika, Bubby, love you so much thank you for always being there for you
little brother and for me.
Jodi
over at Che and
Fidel has inspired me to pick up my camera and turn the focus inward.
Since I already take 100s of photos of my children each week, so I thought I
would twist the idea a little. What I never seem to get is group shots, images
of the family together, whether it is my two children, Tamika and Jarvis, or me
with the kids, or shots of Justin and I. So I am going
to challenge myself to get one image of "my family" per
week.
Poor little love, and poor Mummy. I remember a similar incident with my son, it wasn't nice at all. Kids are prone to accidents, I'm surprised you received criticism on the last accident post?
ReplyDeleteIt was criticism about why would I take photos, and why was I not caring for my child. I take/took photos because that is who I am. What I do. Of course because Tamika was with me on both occasions, I could take images and she was cuddling him.
DeleteHow did you son heal?
Oh no! Poor little man! Sending love & healing vibes Jarvis' way.
ReplyDeleteAnd what an amazing gal you have in Tamika!
Sar xx
Tamika has always been an amazing daughter and sister. Was a mess yesterday and think I will be again on Thursday when he goes into surgery.
DeletePoor Jarvis! Will be thinking of you all on Thursday and focusing on everything going smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI think Thursday will be way scarier for me than Jarvis
DeletePoor little man! Although he doesn't really seemed to phased in those photos...kids are pretty tough aren't they.
ReplyDeleteWhere is he having his surgery? Let me know if you need any reassurance...it is what I do for a living and I also had to watch nine moth old Toddler C get a GA twice. It is definitely harder on you than it will be on him. Best of luck to both of you.
He is having it at the Brisbane Private Hospital on Wickham Tce. At 3;30, which will be hard as he cannot eat for six hours before hand. Jarvis likes to eat a LOT of food every hour!
DeleteI am allowed to stay and hold him until he goes under, then I have to leave the room, they said it will take about two to three hours, think I will drive the staff insane waiting outside going crazy.
Oh looking at these really made my tummy clench for you. Poor brave little boy. When George was about 15 months he took a tumble and hit his mouth on Matilda's bed, knocking one of his front teeth out and puncturing his top lip. That was a tough day but thankfully he didn't have to go through surgery, they couldn't do anything about the lost tooth. I hope he recovers well and Thursday goes as smoothly as possible. Poor you! Your Tamika sounds like a brilliant young lady, who clearly adores her little brother. Sibling love is so special.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it horrible when they hurt themselves? Tamika is the best big sister!
DeleteOh the poor love, that would have been an awful fright. Poor mummy and all that blood and worry. What a beautiful attentive daughter you have my love, which is more than reflective in these pictures with Jarvis. It's clear that he has calmed from the initial incident and is in the lap and arms of one that cares for him deeply. Screw anybody that wants to give you a hard time this time (if they bother) about why you'd take and share these pics.
ReplyDeleteWishing Jarvis all the bet for surgery, as a mumma I know that won't be an easy day for you. Big love and calmness being sent to you.
Jarvis adores his sister. As soon as she got here, which was less than five minutes after it happened, she calmed me and Jarvis down. Washed the blood off his face and picked the tooth out of his lip. Called the doctor and then told me to go and get my camera. While she cuddled Jarvis.
DeleteIf I was alone it would have taken a lot more to calm me and Jarvis down.
its real life and its YOUR blog x
ReplyDeleteIm sure all will go well!
I must remind myself this. My blog, stuff what other people think. But as you know (well I think most know) there are the negative voices in your head that get to you every now and then.
DeleteOh no! Poor little Jarvis! My heart goes to pieces when I see these nasty injuries on little ones, and I have had my fair share of hospital visits this year. I guess if there is one good thing about this story, they are his baby teeth and new, stronger teeth will grow. And what a lovely (and beautiful) big sister T for helping out in a time of need. xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it with four boys! You must have the ambulance on speed dial?!
DeleteSiblings are the best!
Oh my goodness, you poor poor things! Every time something like this happens, it takes a little piece out of us mums and dads. I never recover from our hospital visits - I just block them out! Hugs to you and little Jarvis for his operation. And what are they thinking scheduling him in so late? Sending you strength from down the coast xoxxox
ReplyDeleteIt was either take the late Thursday appointment or wait until the following week. How do you tell a 20 month old they cannot eat?
DeleteOh no ... poor little Jarvis ... and poor you too ... I know I don't cope well where blood and my kids are concerned.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he's taking it like a very brave boy.
All the best for Thursday ... hope it all goes exceptionally well.
xx
Thank you... The blood does me in as well, I always think "way too much blood for such a little body".
DeletePoor Jarvis :( I hope he's feeling better and they are able to take care of his teeth, as long as it didn't damage his permanent teeth you should be okay <3
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope his 'bug' teeth have not been damaged!
DeletePoor boy! That must hurt.
ReplyDeleteIt did/does. He keeps pointing to his lip and gums and saying ouch.
DeleteI hope he's not in pain at the moment. Poor bub
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can tell hips lips are better. But I think his gums still hurt. Also guessing the exposed nerves in his teeth are bothering him as he is struggling with hot and cold food.
DeleteOmg Jarvis is really wild! I hope that everything will be fine!
ReplyDeleteThat is an understatement! LOl, he is such a wild child
Deletethe poor wee thing! and poor you :(
ReplyDeletebut good on you for posting what you feel like. for every criticism there is probably 10 more mamas like me who are sympathising.
I felt a little worried about posting about rose's detergent incident (I've also caught her getting ready to chow down on fertiliser!) because I thought people might judge me for not having the bottle locked away (which it is now) but the truth is accidents do happen with toddlers and it is mighty tricky to be everywhere at once.
and if we're lucky there are gorgeous things that come out of accidents like your sweet eldest being there for her little brother. I'll be thinking about you all tomorrow with lots of love. x
I have never locked anything away. With Tamika I was of the belief if you kiddie lock then how are they to learn. With Jarvis I have given him a cupboard in the kitchen and so far this seems to have worked. I was cleaning the house today and turned around and noticed the shower cleaner missing, I freaked out thinking of you. But Jarvis had actually taken it to the kitchen and put it away in the cupboard.
DeleteMy son and his OCD behaviour.
But then five minutes later he showed me what I am to worry about. He was standing on the edge of a pot plant on the veranda looking over. WTF! If he fell he could have smashed his face again. Or even worse when he gets taller is he going to try to climb over?
I have a climber and a jumper not a taster.
I think the hardest two things tomorrow is when they knock him out and then the two hour wait.
ooooo hon!! have tears in my eyes here as I know the utter heart stopping panic and horror you would have went through as a mama! He needs brakes that sweet boy of yours and you need plenty of wine!!! so glad everything went well to sort it! hugs again! x
ReplyDeleteWine? Ha since I have Jarvis I have almost thought of changing my status from a non-drinker! Jarvis just has no fear, crazy boy loves to freak our his parents.
