30/52

These images could be titled Justin, the Wife and Me. Yes, Justin’s love affair with the bike formally known as Ranga, has grown to such an extent she is now known as the wife. So I guess it only fitting that she becomes part of my 52 Portraits of my Family series.

On a side note, it is also the first time both Justin and I have been apart from Jarvis. He was with Tamika for our bike ride, but as you can see from the image of him, his little face shows he was unsure about us both going. He also pulls his fingers when nervous. I know as soon as we were gone he was fine with Tamika. He adores his big sis, but it was new for him.
All of the images this week were taken by Tamika.

There are a few, Portrait a Week options out there. A lot involve taking a portrait of your children each week. Jodi over at Che and Fidel has inspired me to pick up my camera and turn the focus inward. Since I already take 100s of photos of my children each week, so I thought I would twist the idea a little. What I never seem to get is group shots, images of the family together, whether it is my two children, Tamika and Jarvis, or me with the kids, or shots of Justin and I. So I am going to challenge myself to get one image of "my family" per week.

  1. You look AWESOME in your bike gear! Rick used to ride a motorbike too but he sold it after we got married...
My 52 Project has always been about trying to capture all the boys together because that's the thing I find hardest to do as well.

    1. I had a scooter before I had Jarvis, hence the scooter helmet. Justin got the bike about a year ago and it is true love.
You have five boys, must be so much harder to get them all together!

  3. How cool do you two look in your gear?
And I must say that I am glad that you have all the gear...I was appalled when I was back in the States and saw people riding motorbikes without helmets...it isn't illegal over there to ride without helmets but it sure is crazy!
And I bet Jarvis was happy to see you both return!

    1. My Dad rode bikes, he taught me to ride before i could drive. His only rule was always wear safety gear...closed in shoes, helmets, jackets, and gloves. We wear jeans, but even then I don't think that they would protect us. I nag/ made Justin promise never to go with out the safety gear when he rides his wife.

    1. I miss the really chubby arms he had as a baby, but still very edible

  7. Mark had a "wife" before we met (a Harley), but when the kids came along it sat collecting dust so it eventually got sold. Finger pulling? How cute! xx

    1. The 'wife' came way after me, and there is no way Justin would even let a speak of dust get on her

  8. Good grief, you look fantastic in your motorcycle outfit! Jarvis' little face is so sweet, even if he is a wee bit nervous. Bet he will eventually go on to brag about having the coolest mom ever. =)

    1. Thank you. But I am not sure any child thinks their parents are 'cool'. My aim is to always embarrass my children

  9. Ha! I love that the 'wife' is featured too. There are some who take a weekly photo of their dog. It's fitting if its part of the family! Poor Jarvis. He does look worried. Or perhaps he was worried you were riding a bike more than leaving him? He's so cute! x

    1. Tamika said he was fine once we had actually gone, but yes, he was a tad worried about me getting on the bike.
