TOURIST TUESDAY: DAY SEVEN PADANG BAI DAY/LEGION NIGHT

Another perfectly lazy day spent at the beach and pool. Ah Bali, you are what my soul needed.

Padangbai is a small town in eastern Bali.  It serves as a ferry port for travel to island nearby. It is a sleep beach town perfect for people like me who prefer a small town atmosphere.

But with that small town vibes you also get small town glitches. The whole town lost power about 10am in the morning. No big deal for us as who need power to swim. Or then shower and pack up. Umm, but you do need power when you are checking out and trying to pay via EFTPOS. unlike most of the locals we did not carry much cash on us. I must remember to research more when travelling on which countries like cash over cards. Obviously Bali is one of them.

We ended up napping in one of the bamboo huts on the beach for an hour or so. Then the owner said it was okay if we paid our driver for our accommodation once we got into Legion. Typical of Bali locals, so nice about everything.

Another car ride where Jarvis watched The Avengers, again. Back to Legion, and our original hotel with the eerie corridors, but great buffet and pools.

After a morning and an afternoon at the beach, we opted to get takeaway and have a picnic on our hotel floor. While the boys had a long soak in the huge bathtub I went out to get food from Jarvis's favourite restaurant.

I have to mention how safe I felt wandering around Legion at night as a solo female, the only off comment I got was from a drunk Australian making some dumb remark about the colour of my hair. So, again I have to be embarrassed of my own country and impressed with Balinese people.

Thanks to the locals for being so nice and polite.

TOURIST TUESDAY: DAY SIX PADANG BAI

We woke after a very restful nights sleep, (no vermin in this place). After consuming way too much food at another buffet breakfast, plans were made for the day.

On a side note, why is it I always eat waaaayyy tooo much at a buffet breakfast? I just cannot help myself sampling a bit of everything. Banana pancakes with burnt sugar, were the winner of the day.

Justin hired a boat and guide (I think that is what you call him) and went out to do some diving.

Jarvis and I had a very lazy day, playing at the beach. Swimming in the ocean, and digging in the sand, makes me feel lazy, so no photos were taken. But I have great memories of the laughter of Jarvis and I from this morning. Then we went up to the pool, to relax, because it is very tiring being at the beach.

Leaving the beach with two very brown boys, (no matter how much sunscreen both Justin and Jarvis use they always turn a beautiful colour) we went off in search of more food.

Then, of course, it was the after lunch nap. I, we, are very lucky that Jarvis still naps, anywhere between one and three hours a day. On holidays I find this is a perfect time to make us stop, and relax. I read a book or nap. Justin will either nap or go off in search of the 'perfect' photo. I find with Jarvis's naps it forces us two to stop and breath.

The afternoon was spent at the pool, and swim up bar. Jarvis declared this "good bar, so much popcorn". The waiter kept Jarvis supplied with free popcorn all afternoon, so he was a very happy boy. I also loved the watermelon juice.

With so much laziness being the theme of the day, we ended up eating at the hotel restaurant and then going back to our room to watch a movie on my tiny laptop.

TOURIST TUESDAY: DAY FIVE PADANG BAI

After little to no sleep, we were dressed, and out of our hut as quick as we could. This time Jarvis had no hesitation getting on the scooter. After a breakfast in Ubud, where we used their Wifi to book new accommodation, we were happy just to ride around, stopping for snacks, and to take photos of the locals.

Even back at our hut, we just wanted to wander and take photos of our surrounds. Avoiding our rat hut? Possibly. I did love Ubud. Even with the rats. There was a calmness to the place, that encouraged me just to breath. Normally I would have totally lost it over the rat, but I just accepted that was life in the mountains.

Plus I cannot find the words to express how nice the people of Bali are. As we were walking around Jarvis needed to go to the loo, with no public toilets anywhere in sight, I asked a local if she knew where one was. She indicated to follow her, and before we knew it we were inside her house? Village? And she lets Jarvis use the family toilet. Cannot image any Australian opening their house to a complete stranger like that.
Thank you Ubud family, for the use of your loo.

But, soon enough it was time to pack up and leave. A driver picked us up, and followed Justin into Ubud, where he returned the scooter. Then, it was another few hours in the car, with another viewing of Avengers.

Padang Bai, wow. Beach side accommodation, and a pool with a swim up bar.

After been in the car for so long, we went for a walk along the beach on to the next beach. Blue Lagoon. It was grey and overcast, so the beach was not blue, plus the neat freak in me got/gets so sad at the amount of litter on the beaches.

Temples on the beach

A not very blue, Blue Lagoon Beach

This is how they dispose of their rubbish, plastic and all.

Lots of photos from this day, but lots of things that I do not want to forget.

Jarvis ended the day his favourite way, at the swim up bar
