TOURIST TUESDAY: THERESA CREEK DAY FOUR

It has taken me a long time to write this post, because I wanted to leave the last day/last post at Theresa Creek to talk about our hosts Margaret and Laurence. Yet, I find myself at a loss to adequately describe how amazing they are.

On arrival Laurence met us at the gate and Margaret was up at the farm. They showed us around, and taught us the little ins and outs, and generally made us feel extremely welcome. Not only with fresh produce of eggs and pumpkin from their farm, but homebaked lusciousness of fresh bread and a macadamia slice.

They gave us complete privacy, yet we found ourselves drawn to their farm each afternoon after our walks. Where we would stay and chat and Jarvis would play with their dog.

On our last day at the farm, we stopped by to tell them we were leaving and ended up being invited in for morning tea. Wow, Margaret can bake yummy treats!

I, we, cannot recommend this place more highly. It had everything we needed to disconnect and reconnect as a family. This is not a sponsored post in any way. I will include a link to their page, just so you are also tempted. You can find them and their farm here

After tearing ourselves away from the farm, we opted to take the slow scenic route home. Stopping to take photos of abandoned houses, meandering around op shops, and stopping where ever the desire took us.

This was the prefect long weekend away.

TOURIST TUESDAY: THERESA CREEK DAY TWO

We all woke early, combination of the morning sun streaming through the window, and Jarvis's excitement to start the day.

Day Two was Justin's, and my, anniversary. 7th of the 7th. Nine years...wow. That went fast. It only seems like yesterday we had that first date, on a freezing night in July.

After Justin opened his presents we had breakfast on the verandah in the sun. Breakfast, and gift opening, was so exhausting for Justin he had to have a nap...the first of a few.

After slowly getting ready we drove "into town". After stocking up on groceries and had a quick lunch, we were all keen to get back to the slowness of the farm life. The trip into town exhausted all of us, so of course we had to nap some more.

After lunch it was back into our farm clothes and we set off to explore the property. The day before seemed to set the trend for our entire stay. Each afternoon we would set off and explore the land, always ending up at the owners farm for a chat. I will write more about Laurence and Margaret later,  as I am struggling to find the words to describe how amazing they made our stay.

TOURIST TUESDAY: THERESA CREEK DAY ONE PART TWO

After lunch we set off for the farm. Words cannot describe how amazing this place is. So I will let the images tell the story. Jarvis and the owner's dog bonded immediately.

After a rest, we went for a walk on the property. Is was a VERY windy, cold afternoon. And a hard hike uphill. But I was determined to make it. as there is a spot on the property that gets phone reception and internet. Other wise no reception. I made my one call to check on Tamika and then was happy to go phone free.

The only thing I struggled with on that freezing day, was the outside shower and toilet. It got below zero over night and I felt it trying to shower in the wind with Jarvis and I fighting for a bit of warmth in the water.

Interesting. None of us noticed the lack of phones or TV. Justin spent the night doing a jigsaw puzzle and I read a book and crocheted.

TOURIST TUESDAY: THERESA CREEK DAY ONE

After a hiatus from blogging I was not sure I was going to blog about our anniversary holiday. But, yesterday I was going through the images, and I thought, these are memories I want to preserve. So four weeks later.. here is day one, part one, of our trip to Theresa Creek.

This year it was Justin's turn to organise our holiday. With him so busy with work, we could only get away for a few days. What Justin found was perfect. We left Brisbane early Wednesday morning and headed towards NSW.

Justin, as usual, drove. With my crochet in hand I was happy (as usual) with being the passenger. Jarvis and I, play a car game, so he was also happy as passenger. Honey Bear also came along for the trip.

First stop was a quick loo break at a servo. Second stop, a longer break at a pop up op shop. Holly Molly I could have spent SOOOO much money there. I was refrained, and came away with nothing. But a month later I am still thinking about those amazing vintage jeans and a certain purple poncho.

Then we stopped for a lazy lunch at Lismore. As you can see by the photos, Jarvis really hates going on holidays...um not.

Next week, I will do part two, with images from the farm. I took so many I did not want to overload this post.

TOURIST TUESDAY: JIMBARAN BAY DAY TWO AFTERNOON/EVENING

Day two in Bali was the day of our actual anniversary, so Justin had organised a driver to pick us up and drive us to Jimbaran Bay for dinner.

Not my date for the evening, but he was interested in my hair.

According to Google " Jimbaran is just south of the airport and Kuta. This was formerly a real backwater of south Bali, just a tiny fishing village with a daily market. That all started to change in the 1980s and Jimbaran is now home to several world class 5 star beach resorts, plus a few more moderate mid-market hotels."

For me it was a beautiful place to walk on sunset. A place to wander, and look at the locals. None of which approached us trying to sell anything. But most did, second and sometimes triple look at Jarvis and myself.

Dinner was lovely. Nothing like eating yummy seafood as the sun sets.  Must recommend to any parent trying to eat a dinner with a toddler a dinner on the beach. Jarvis played in the sand for ages.

Selfies in the lift.

My two cute dates for the evening.

How is that for ambient lighting?

THE HORSES... FOR JUSTIN

07/07/15 EIGHT YEARS

On the 7th of July it is my eight year anniversary. Yup, 07/07/2007 is our ‘date’.
Who would have thought that your quiet gentle soul and my loud emotional one would have made a match? On paper you and I do not make sense, and not just the fourteen year age gap. But somehow, we do.

Yes, sometimes, my OCD neat freak, list making personality wants to head butt your messy, willy nilly leave it to me personality. However, I could not imagine my life without you in it.

After eight years I love you even more.

THIS WAS ME TWO YEARS AGO TODAY

By this time two years ago, I had been in labor for about 18 hours or more. Still have about another 20 or more to go. The pain came and went, but the urge to hold my baby was getting so strong.

07/07/2013 SIX YEARS

Six years have passed. It seems as if I have always known you, yet it was only yesterday we met. We spoke online for months, (Yes we are a Myspace couple.) before we finally went out for coffee. After only an hour, I told you we had to go, as I was freezing. Your sad face told me that you did not believe me. (You were wearing a light jacket and I had more than several layers on) So I put my cold hands on you. Now six years on you are use to me always being cold, and I guess, always putting my hands on you.

You are strong and silent, I am insecure and loud. I am a neat freak, you are the opposite. I worry about the little things; you see the big picture. You are fourteen years younger than me. We are different in so many ways, yet somehow we make sense. Happy sixth anniversary Jam, love you more than you will ever know.
