38/52

I am not good with saying good-bye.

Jarvis connects us, making us a family. Tamika fresh out of hospital, with her ice-pack in hand also came to say good-bye.

For some reason every time Justin asks for a kiss off Jarvis, Jarvis licks his face.

Good-byes are always hard. But last night’s good-bye was even harder for so many reasons. Justin and I have never been apart for as long as we are going to be. Justin has never been away from Jarvis for any length of time. While Jarvis and I stay and adjust to living in a new house, Justin is off on an adventure. An adventure that is more than a holiday, Justin is volunteering his time and expertise as a photographer, to document and promote a school that my cousin, Margaret has fundraised and built. (More on Margaret and the amazing work she has been doing later) But it is also bittersweet for me Justin is going off to do my fantasy job/thing. I have always wanted to travel the world and raise awareness for education in Third World countries.

Jam you are going to be so missed. We… I love you.

Note: Tamika took the group images for me.

Jodi over at Che and Fidel has inspired me to pick up my camera and turn the focus inward. Since I already take 100s of photos of my children each week, so I thought I would twist the idea a little. What I never seem to get is group shots, images of the family together, whether it is my two children, Tamika and Jarvis, or me with the kids, or shots of Justin and I. So I am going to challenge myself to get one image of "my family" per week.

    1. It has only been 24 hours, but it has bought back so many memories of me being a single Mum with Tamika. First thing Jarvis did this morning was look for his Dad. I had to keep repeating, Daddy's gone on a plane.

  2. That sounds amazing what he is going to do and I'm sure a time will come when you will be on that plane with him. I have do e a few similar trips in my days before babies and it's much harder now to do those tips but the opportunity will come again I'm sure.
I have been making myself take more pics as a family too. I am always behind the camera and rarely in any which I know I'll regret one day. Enjoy being a solo mum for a bit, I'm sure you will do amazingly well. Bec ... Also thanks for stopping by Bloggers Bazaar www.bloggersbazaar.com.au

    1. Do not regret not being in your family's visual history. Change it now, and be in more images. It is important for your children.

    1. The hair is way more pink, I have gotten over the target logo thing and appreciate how well the skirt sits. I really would like a dozen more of them.

Thanks to modern technology, we 'spoke' for ages last night. Though Justin heads to the village today not sure when we will be able to communicate again

    1. It is strange, I was a single Mum for 15 years so I am use to parenting alone, but somehow you just get so 'use' to them being around. The days seem emptier without Justin around

    1. I don't know how you do it with Nic away. But then maybe by the end of October I will be use to being on my own and he will get in my way? Hmm, not much chance of Skype, no internet in the village that he is staying.

    1. I have been thinking of changing the colour, again... I always think it is easy to be the one going, rather than the one left behind.
