OUR 'NAMELESS' NEW HOUSE

We did it! We survived the move. It was an epic week-end of packing, moving, and cleaning. But with the help of family…. Thank you Mum for coming down from Bribie to help me clean two houses… Thank you Craig, for yet again, being the second set of muscles and helping us move house.

We went from having an empty house on Friday to today, Wednesday, to almost totally unpacked and set up. I will not lie; look at the last image there is still some to go. However, the bulk of that is my sewing. Justin’s desk got broken in the move so he has my old sewing table. So until he gets back from Cambodia, it is the dining table for my sewing.

What is left are the little things, a couple of boxes of ‘stuff’ that you don’t want to throw, but you do not know what to do with. A few curtains still need to be hung, I have sewn them, I just need a hack saw, to shorten the curtain rods. Plus none of our art works are up on the walls (we need confirmation on just how many hooks we are allowed).

But I feel happy we are set up and unpacked. Now to fine tune the place to make it our home.

The above two images were taken Friday.

Moving was exhausting for both Jarvis and Tira. Yes the house has three bedroom, but we all are sleeping in one.

Love how all of my Kitchenaid appliances match this new house.

    1. It is a house with great points, lovely polished floorboards, open spaces. But, Jane like me you would cry when you see the yard.

    1. Unpacking was helped by my OCD behaviour, every box was clearly labelled with location and contents.

    1. It is yet to feel like 'our' home. I think it will take time, especially with Justin going away so much in the coming months.

  4. This is a gorgeous looking space! And yes, the best part is your appliances fit. :D What do you think of the bench mixer? I still haven't bought mine yet.

    1. I love both the blender and mixer. I have to yet to totally take advantages of all of the features of the mixer. Making bread in it is so easy. But I am lusting after some of the attachments. I cannot decide what I want more, attachments for the mixer or the food processor.

    1. I am not sure when a house becomes a home. But I think it will take longer with Justin away, and that this is the first house Tamika and I have not lived together in.

  8. What a mamoth task, moving, unpacking and lots of cleaning..... all done now.
The new rooms look great, those floors are sooo lovely, I am sure you will all settle in and make it "home" soon.
When you get bored with sorting things inside you can start on a nice, relaxing sitting area outside, as the weather will be warm most of the time now.
A good thorough safety check of the yard will give you peace of mind when the little explorer wants to be playing outside most of the time.
The rooms look nice and light and sunny, can't wait to see how you make it all "yours"

    1. The yard is what needs the most work. Fences need to be put in place. A clothes line needs to be hung, and gardens need to be built.

    2. No clothes line , that's not good, lets hope the work orders for the fencing and clothes line get attention soon.

  9. My goodness, you're more unpacked than I am and I've been living in my house for six years!!! Look at those LOVELY shiny floors. And I love your bed arrangement. Perfect. x

    1. The bed arrangement is a compromise between co-sleeping (which I love) and Jarvis sleeping in his own cot (which Justin wants). Tira has always slept with us. I am more than a little OCD about things being tidy, so unpacking was a must. It also helped to settle Jarvis, when I put out/away stuff he walked around touching it and nodding. The more the home was set up the happier and more settled he was/is

    1. Helps I am OCD, hate mess and that Justin was going away. I wanted the bulk of it done before he left. Few things still left to be done, but it feels good to be unpacked.
