EATING FROM THE GARDEN

The New Year has bought our first crop from the garden. Bok Choy and lettuce, are all now ready to enjoy. I am so please with the results, especially since it is the first time I have ever done any gardening. The more time I spend in the garden with dirt on my hands, the more I am enjoying it. It is such a technological world, and the garden brings me back to the earth. Plus, so far, it is has been easy (especially since Dad helped me with so much).

  1. Wow! Your garden is fantastic. I love eating from our little potted garden, too, although all we are realy producing is lettuce.

    1. I started off with a potted herb garden and it has grown to this! So far we have only gotten lettuce and bok chuy, but a lot more is looking promising. So keeping our fingers crossed. What else have you planted?

    2. We have strawberries, tomatoes, lemons, herbs (oregano, thyme, basil, parsley <- going to seed) and then some ornamentals - geraniums, succulents, sweetpea, kangaroo paw, boronia. All in pots! We only have a "courtyard garden" (it's actually a concreted over yard, but the real estate agent would have a heart attack if I described it thus) and no dirt, and also lots of challenges re sunshine: in summer, everything gets over heated; in winter, nothing gets any sun! One day, I will have a real garden. One day.

    3. You are lucky. I cannot grow any 'ornamental", all flowers etc die on me. Whether they are in the garden or potted. Any hints? We had a backyard that was a dump site, not sure if the real estate would like this description either. Though I am not sure if you can rip up your concrete to get a garden. Would love to see images of your potted garden.

  3. Wow, that is so cool! I wish I had a garden. They have a few city gardens in Berlin where people go to grow their own stuff. Not near me though :(

    1. I do feel very lucky to have the space/backyard to be able to grow my own garden. Even if some people think I am crazy to do all of this work in a rental. But I figure we get to eat what I plant.

    1. I agree. I started off with a herb garden and loved cooking with them. Now I have my own vegies patch, I couldn't be happier. Next I would love a couple of chickens
