Do you ever not publish
images because of who is in them? I had another series of images that I was
going to use on Sunday for the 52 Portraits Series. However, because friends of
Guy and Tamika were in the photos I did not publish them.
What is off limits when
publishing photos? What guidelines do you use when publishing images of your
own children and family?
Here is one of the images, the
only one with only Jarvis and Tamika in. Love the lighting in Tamika's new
house.
I think if I was open in real life about blogging I'd ask people for permission but my rule is I only post photos with Logan, me or the hubby & if random strangers are in it so be it. I feel weird putting photos out there of people I know so usually only do it if there indistinguishable. I'm also starting to feel guilty about posting photos of Logan because he doesn't have a say in it but in saying that I'd feel sad if everyone stopped posting kid photos because I feel like a lot of these parents and babies/kids are my friends and it's only distance stopping me seeing them.
ReplyDeleteSorry a bit of a long comment haha it's a tough balance and I think something that's always going to be up for debate!
I post photos of Tamika and Jarvis, but either were to ever ask me not to I would stop. I am also funny about putting images up here of people I know. I try to ask first before I publish.
ReplyDeleteI use images of others if I have asked permission. or if they aren't really visible, blurry in background, back views etc
ReplyDeleteI usually only post pics of my immediate family and I'll often ask them too, just to be sure. also I post pics of other bloggers who are already happy to have their pics out there :)
ReplyDeleteI would never post a photo of anyone unless they agreed to it first. Most of my friends love being on my blog though:) As I'm a teacher and write about my class a lot it's frustrating because I can't use photos at ALL.
ReplyDeleteNo! Never. I don't even write about a particular child. Sometimes I mix qualities from a few of them into one and make up a name though.
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard not to want to share since the students are such a big part of your life. But I get not using their names
ReplyDeleteisn't that the truth. x
ReplyDeleteIt would be unethical. Besides my deputy principals read my blog and they'd kill me :)
ReplyDeleteI don't post pics of others without their permission. I rarely post pics of my own kids, and never if you can see their face. I figure they're too young to consent.
ReplyDeleteWell that certainly keeps you accountable. But I am glad you don't share too much on your students. Makes me feel good for when Jarvis goes to school.
ReplyDeleteYes. but then I've been blogging for 8 years so I'll often think about posts when photographing;) I do hit publish of my friends children if parents give permission. many of them blog and have their kids on their blogs anyhow
