TOILET TRAINED CHICKEN AND TWO NEW GIRLS

A toilet trained chicken? And two new girls added to our brood. Hmm what do you call a collection of chickens?

So the moment Jarvis woke up today he asked "Dad, blue duck". And then repeated the statement over and over. Translation: "Is Granddad coming over soon, so we can go and buy a blue chicken?". Jarvis always calls my Dad, well Dad, I guess cause I do. Justin is always Daddy. The obsession with getting a blue chicken has been strong for ages.

Lucky for the both of us Dad got here by ten am. But not so lucky for Jarvis when we got to the farm, they had thousands of chickens with so many different breeds, but no blue chickens. In the end Jarvis went into this enclosure and played for ages, then he lent down and kissed the black and white girl. So I knew she was the one for us. As Jarvis was leaving the enclosure with his new chicken, the big white girl with the black necklace followed Jarvis out, and then went and sat on Jarvis's feet. So she choose Jarvis. I forgot to ask what breed of chicken these two girls are. Does anyone know?

And to the toilet trained chicken comment. Pav, a our White Leghorn has been coming inside the house and using Tira's kitty litter to poo in. WT? Plus Tira has now slept all afternoon in the box we bought the chicken home. Yes the world is strange. Or maybe just my world.

Our new white girl is huge, she is only six months old and look at her next to Pav and Om!

  1. The dark girl is a Wyandotte not sure about the big white one.

  2. Hmm, not sure that I am happy about Pav using the litter. It is there and only used on wet days. Tira does not like to go outside when it is wet. Now I am having to clean it out all of the times. I try to put as much poo as possible on the veggie patch. But, yes, my world is a world of poo.

  5. No so awesome cleaning out kitty litter. Bloody chook, Pav poos in the kitty litter, picks on the cat, and try to eat the cat food. Does this chook think she is a cat?

  6. A Plymouth Rock (speckly) and a Light Sussex. The Light Sussex are HUGE birds and both are very beautiful. I miss our chickens. Hopefully we'll have more soon. x

  7. So chubby girl is a Sussex. In the two weeks we have had her she seems to have gotten even bigger! Where as our little Rock, I am nervous she is not eating much, she is tiny. I am so glad we have our chickens, Jarvis loves them so much. Plus it teaching him about being responsible. Are you thinking of getting more? If so what sort?
