LIEBSTER AWARD

Me aged 2 and a half. Yes, I was extremely blond and had a bowl cut.

Lila from Little Wolff nominated me for a Liebster award, a little while back. While I love that she nominated me, I went all shy and blank about what to write about myself. So finally here it is:

Liebster is a German word that means dearest, and this award is given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers who you think deserves more recognition.
Here are the rules:
- List 11 random facts about yourself
- Answer the 11 questions which are given to you by your nominator
- Ask 11 new questions for all the bloggers that you nominate to win the award
- Nominate 9 bloggers with less than 200 followers to win the award
- Go to each of the blogger's pages to let them know about their nomination
- Thank the blogger who nominated you by mentioning them and link back to their blog

11 random facts about me:
11. I asked both Justin and Tamika to name eleven facts about me and they both answered with the same first response. I am OCD. Okay so little explanation, I am not OCD in the light switch flicking way, but there are a LOT of things I need to have just so in order for me to feel a sense of control in my life.

10. I talk too much, but I am extremely shy in meeting new people. Stupidly so, in that I will avoid social situations.

9. I am allergic to garlic. No, this is not because I do not like it; this is because my tongue and throat swell up when I eat it. I get sick of people asking if I miss it. What miss feeling like I cannot breathe?

8.  I wanted a dozen children when I was in my 20s. In my 30s I would have said six was enough. Now in my 40s I have two, but in my heart I want more. (I would have more but miscarriages and age are against me)

7. I eat huge amounts of food, but cannot put on weight as I have Graves Disease. Something I do not like talking about, as I hate talking about anyone’s weight. Women already have too much pressure on them.

6. I have several degrees, and I have never worked in any of the fields I have studied. I just love to learn.

5. I studied classical ballet for over ten years. But have not been to see a ballet since I stopped dancing.

4. I am slightly dyslexic, but no one diagnosed this until I was in my mid thirties. I always thought I was just crap at spelling.

3. One of my eyes goes greener when I am ovulating and or pregnant. Years of trying to fall pregnant I figured out my ovulation cycles by my eye.

2. I do not drink coffee and or alcohol. Sometimes I think I need to.

1. Iliska is Polish for Julie.

Questions from Lila
1. Were you named after someone? or did you name your children after someone?
No, my Mum picked the most basic names for me and my sisters because of our surname. Julie is a very common name for my age group. Neither of my children are named after anyone.

2. Would you rather invest in, nice clothes, good furniture or art?
Art. All of the furniture that I own is second hand and refurbished. Clothes, well are thing that age and go out of fashion. But art, is not only an investment, it is something to enjoy. Plus it was once someone's personal vision,

3. Where is your dream location, holiday or home?
Dream holiday is anywhere I am yet to visit

4. What's your favourite scent?
Vanilla

5. What's your favourite piece of clothing / jewellery?
I cannot really say I have one. Maybe one of my rings, I bought it for myself years ago as a present from a vintage store.

6. What was the last song you heard?
My Baby Just Cares for Me. Nina Simone. But I was singing it. So not sure if this counts

7. What's your favourite desert?
Good quality ice cream or dark chocolate

8. What's your favourite season?
Spring. Not too hot not too cold. Reminds me of new beginnings

9. Who do you most want to have a long conversation with?
Frida Kahlo. Most amazing artist and woman. Who could teach a lot about body confidence to women these days

10. What do you like most about blogging?
That in the last eight months since I started blogging, it is like a new world of discovery. I am learning so much, with out having to leave my comfort zone.

11. What is your oldest memory?
I was around two years of age; Dad had my elder sister and me in the wheel barrow and was racing around the yard going crazy. I laughed so hard I peed myself. Then I cried so hard as I was too scared to tell Mum. So Dad let us run through the sprinkler so Mum would not know. I was never sure if this was a true memory or not. until a year or so ago and Dad told this story to someone else and I realized it was a memory. Ps Dad got in trouble for letting us play in the sprinkler. I even remember I was wearing a yellow and pink shift dress.
