LABEL OR NO LABEL?

Now, I am actually taking orders for my sewing Justin thinks I need to get a label. Normally I do the dodgy ribbon option to mark the back and don't even care how slap haz I sew it on, but I feel this is not acceptable for customers.

Yes, I know I need a new unpicker.

But I am torn. Jarvis, and I, both hate labels and I will unpick any from our garments. The other option is an 'outside' label. But this too has it's faults as I normally do not wear any branded clothing, so why would I brand my own?

I looked at Etsy, but how do I find a label that is soft and non-scratchey? What should I do? What have you found other sewers with a handmade sewing business do?

Hmmm I don't know but I do remember a long time ago seeing someone selling reels of lovely soft ribbon that was printed in with brand/name.

  2. There are some nice sounding customisable organic cotton labels on Etsy. All based in US, unfortunately. I've not tried any ...

How about creating a fabric stamp that you could reuse? Just an idea - I've not done it!

I keep tossing up about whether to get a label to add to my me-mades, but I also know I always remove labels in bought clothing so ... why would I add them in my self made ones?!

  3. Ohh, I like the idea of a fabric stamp. Something simple. Hmm any idea where to get these from?

  4. Not entirely sure ... I've seen some in craft shops (Riot Arts & Crafts to be precise - are they up in Brissie?) but I guess you could just as easily make them if you were super crafty, which I think you are! Then, you just need fabric paint for the stamping ink ... I think. Oh, and an iron to set the ink. I;m just kinda speculating because I've never tried it!
