I THINK I HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW TO (RETAIL) SHOP

I do believe, I have forgotten how to retail shop. .

Now, set me free in a hardware store, garden centre, fabric store, or op shop I always 'find' something I love. But it was a different story when I went shopping on Saturday. I was given a voucher for Christmas, so we were going to spend it. After two hours, with an hour off for lunch, I was over it, and just wanted to go home. I had a great time hanging out and talking with Susie and Tamika, and my little side kick Jarvis. But would have had the same fun if we had have hung out in the backyard. Everything just seemed so trite, so expensive, such bad quality.

I was also given vouchers for my birthday and came home with a set of new bath towels in September. But, because there was nothing I needed, it was hard to find something I wanted. I will definitely not waste the card, as it has twelve months to use it, but I think Saturday showed me, after not buying anything for the last two years, I have taught myself to only shop for things I need, rather than want

I came home with a 2014 diary, a box of pins for my cork board and a DVD for Jarvis.

But then, after we got home, I went shopping again. This time, I came home with two pieces of wood, three new packets of seeds, three seedlings, and a new garden hose head. More my kind of shopping.

 Seed Packets are so pretty

  2. Something to be very proud of, I wish I could say the same but if I had the money I'd probably buy a ton of clothes and throw all my aging ones away!

  3. My local hardware store know me by name. If I could make undies and shoes I would never have a need for retail. (I can never find op shoe shoes in my size)

  4. Clothes don't really interest me. If I had more money I would spend it on travel

  5. Travel would be nice, but as most of my clothes are almost as old as Tarrant my weary wardrobe is on my mind!

  6. The last time I went to a big shopping centre it was only to take advantage of their air con…not to actually shop. That being said, I can shop up a storm at my local shops!

  7. The only 'new' things I have bought is a couple of vintage tops I got before I was pregnant with Jarvis. Other new stuff have either been gifts or hand made.

  8. I go to Carindale every fortnight to go to the library with Jarvis and have lunch with him. Other than that I did go shopping before Christmas for gifts, but it is easier to shop for people other than myself

  9. I used to shop till I dropped! As I've gotten older it interests me less and less to do so. I'd rather spend money going places or investing in my hobbies (photography and what have you). There are times of course I need to shop for clothes since I have to dress up for work, and Dominic outgrows things, but I always get coupons and promo codes to save a bunch.

  10. We are the same. If I need to shop I try to look at other options to save and avoid retail.
