HOW DO YOU SAY THANK YOU?

How do you find words to express gratitude? When a simple ‘thank you’ does adequately cover how you feel?

It is not that the words are a difficult thing to say. I have no problem admitting I am in another person’s debt. I am not at all powerful; I need the help of others to survive. The reality is that the human race is interdependent. I cannot live life alone. I can admit I am constantly relying on other for all kinds of resources, both physical and emotional. When I say thank you I am acknowledging that I have received something from another human being. But is this enough?  Do the words count any more?

Jarvis loves going to the letterbox. It is a daily joy of his, to hear the Postie’s bike, and to run out and check if we have mail. Today, not only did we get mail, but we got a parcel. A parcel for Jarvis.

My Aunt sent Jarvis a beautiful hand knitted jumper. This is not the first. Last winter between my Aunt and my Mother; the Grannies knitted an amazing stash for him. I happened to mention not so long ago that he had outgrown all of these, without expecting anything.

What a gorgeous surprise when we received this beautiful hand knitted gift today.

Not that my Aunt reads this blog, but I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for your thoughtful gift that is so filled with love.

    1. Jarvis is indeed lucky. In fact he has made his sister a little jealous, she loves the jumper as much as me and jokingly asked if she could stretch it to fit her.

  3. It is such a delight to dress little ones in things that have been specially made for them, by someone who also loves them. Love that wool!

    1. A lot of Jarvis's wardrobe is handmade. But handmade by someone other than me makes it even more special. The wool is gorgeous and soft. We all want a jumper to match!

  6. What a sweet sweet post as I know you have loved seeing the woollies I've made for my grandchildren.
Your aunt will know in your voice how much this means to you all, a hand written thank you letter with a Jarvis 'drawing' and/or a photo of him wearing his cosy new jumper will make her day too.

    1. I adore you hand knitting! I am thrilled to get a jumper for Jarvis. So yes thinking a photo of him in it with a hand written thank you may just be the answer.

  7. My son loves mail too (whether it's for him or not doesn't matter- Lol). I love what your aunt made for Jarvis. It was very sweet, kind, and thoughtful of her. & I'm with Sue, maybe just a sweet thank you letter on a pretty card or stationary will probably light up her day, maybe even a photo print of Jarvis wearing it <3

Comments are almost as good as getting a letter or parcel in the mail.
